Intervention Testimonials

Nancy B. - New Mexico
"I am just writing this note to tell you six months ago I phoned in and asked for help on your phone number posted on the web page. I was poor, we had no food, no propane for cooking, no wood for fire, no water and my husband was trashed sitting in the garage. Your councilor sent a copy of "It's Not OK To Be A Cannibal" and my three children and I read it aloud then worked out an intervention. It was scary as hell and ultimately my husband walked out on us, never to be heard from again, but we blossomed! My 17 year old son got his GED and went to college early, my 15 year old son got excepted to a special culinary school for high school/ college concurrent enrollment, and my 10 year old daughter started to school for the first time and she is the head of her class! And I am back in college at 47, with A's and B's. Yes we lost the addict, but considering our living condition, that happened years ago, but the book woke us up and we took back our lives. Thank you does not seem to cover the depth of our gratitude, I don't know what more to say. If ever you need a testimony I am here: It would be my honor, our honor, to speak on behalf of what you have done to save myself and my children. Thank you."

"The way you conducted my friend's intervention for alcohol abuse last weekend supplied me with an incredible bonding experience not only with my friend who needed help, but also with the other participants. Changing my style of confrontation to care-frontation, bringing us all past enabling my friend, coaching the group on how to articulate our feelings, observations, and future responses was facilitated in a loving, caring, professional fashion.
It is my belief that I grew a lot as a friend, father and husband from this awesome experience. And my wife and son were not in attendance. I have spent money going to growth workshops lasting 3 days on more than one occasion. I've experienced the Encounter Groups of the '70's, the personal wealth groups of the '80's and '90's, weekend marriage seminars, etc. This experience impacted me just as much. And I wasn't the target person for this exercise.
You have my heartfelt thanks, full of hugs and gratitude for your expertise, your caring, and, most of all, for successfully getting my friend into treatment. If you ever want a referral for a future client, please feel free to share my work or home number. I have no doubt they will retain your services. Keep up the good fight. This is America and we love the comeback kid."

"I'm very happy to be able to report to you that our son has now completed his 40th, drug-free day. He continues his recovery program at Renaissance Institute and just recently reached out for the first time and made contact with me on Mother's Day. The most precious gift I could ever have hoped for and I cannot begin to thank you both, for your roles in making this happen. I'm so grateful for your guidance and expertise in planning and executing our intervention.
I knew from the very first phone call that I made, when Bob answered the phone that terrible night, that this was the answer I was searching for. For the first time ever, I felt as if someone truly understood what I was going through and not only wanted to help but was able to do so. Others had said they wanted to help, but offered no real assistance or information. You gave me the tools I needed to get to the point where I could actually begin thinking about and planning an intervention. You not only kept me updated every step of the way with what needed to be done in selecting and locating a program for my son; but you checked in on my own well-being as well. I have never felt such a sense of confidence in someone that I had never met personally. So glad you have such broad shoulders and were able to help me through my ordeal and can continue to help other parents who find themselves in this same situation!"

"You will be surprised and pleased to know that we happened to be in town this evening for dinner. Our son is with us for the evening. He is doing very well - completed his month at Hazelden, did three months at Kinnic Falls halfway program, and is currently in a sober house in Newport. Since April he has been working at a marina in Afton. We see him two or three weekends every month and do all sorts of things together. Thanks for helping us get our son started on the path to reclaiming his life!"

Erin - Minnesota
"Dear Dave,
Please allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Erin and I am an alcoholic. I have the disease of alcoholism and am truly powerless over it. I'm a little slow and maybe even a little stubborn sometimes but I have finally realized that admitting I am powerless over this disease is not letting go of control, but the way to get it back. So, I would like to say thank you for helping God help me get to the place where I am now. "

Emily - Minnesota
"Thanks to all the staff at AIR for helping our family come together to encourage my sister to go into treatment. She is in her second week and doing well. Thanks so much to David Eichhorn. He really helped in explaining alcohol dependence and enabling to our family so that everyone was on the same page concerning what would be the best treatment option for my sister. He is a great listener and was always available to answer the numerous questions that I had. The whole family, including my sister, appreciated David's guidance and help through the whole process. I would highly recommend AIR to anyone who needs help in dealing with a family member who has an addiction."

Steve - Minnesota
"Well, I would have bet the farm against it but you guys helped us get our son into a place where he can get some help. At this point, in large part, the rest is up to him. I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your efforts. I do not believe for a minute that we could have done this on our own. Your kind words of encouragement and support were appreciated more than you will ever know."

Debbie - California
"I will be forever grateful to your responses to my first desperate phone call after finding your site on the web. My husband and I were wildly desperate to try to help/save our son. He was in a breath-taking downward spiral and we felt that his next steps could well be hospitalization, law-breaking, jail or death. We all were lucky enough to have you answer your phone. You calmly asked questions and helped assess our situation. You advised us that Hazelden could be the best treatment center for our son.
I now like to say that we all experienced an intervention of the 21st century. We just returned from the Family Program and are forever changed by Hazelden's program. We now feel that we finally 'get it.' Not only do we have a better understanding of what our son is experiencing but we learned so much more about ourselves and how we relate to both of our sons. Our son stayed for the 28 day program and has continued with the extended care program.
We will always be grateful for the experience of working with you. It changed all of our lives for the better."

Thomas - Texas
"Just a note to thank you for your help earlier this week. I realize that you were doing the job you are paid to do but you obviously did much more than that. The task at hand required your expertise and experience and we were very fortunate to have you guide us."

Mona - Minnesota
"Three weeks ago you led an intervention, which ended with my husband going to treatment. I just came back from the family program and witnessed the gradual but drastic transformation my husband is going through. Not only am I grateful for your important role in getting him the help he needed but my husband himself and everyone else who cares about him are grateful to you. It was not a fast and easy intervention and I admired how you didn't give up easily on him. Only with the power of the group, having been prepared by you for that day and your leadership, we succeeded to convince him to surrender, admit his powerlessness to the addiction and accept help. The feeling of confidence everyone had knowing that you were with us at the intervention gave us the determination to accomplish our common goal. He still has a long way to go but we're hopeful and amazed of every recovery step he's taking. I thank you for giving us back hope for a better future. You have impacted many people's lives with every intervention you've led."

Shelby and Bea - North Carolina
We are writing to express our thanks and gratitude to Andrew and all of the AIR staff for helping us during a very difficult time in making decisions concerning our son and his drug addiction. When the initial call was made, we were absolutely desperate for answers. You listened very carefully, while we explained our situation and immediately suggested a plan of action. It was apparent that the staff at AIR is well trained and educated on the problems of our addiction. Together we decided on a treatment facility that would best be suited for our son. It was then arranged for us to have a pre-intervention meeting with Andrew. During this meeting we were able to gain the strength, courage, and confidence that we needed to help make the intervention successful. When the actual intervention took place the following day, our son was treated with kindness, love, and compassion. As he left with Andrew to go to the treatment facility, we were confident that our son would receive the best care possible. Because of this intervention and the encouragement and guidance that Andrew gave our son, he was able to take back his life from a world of drugs. We will definitely recommend the services of AIR to other families.”
